  •      MONSOONS

Doves and pigeons intone chants of redemption

In the lonesome corridors of sweltering Summer,

When the black and blue clouds fill the torrid sky

Peacocks and gleeful soul dances in anticipation,

Blessing the earth with the down pour.

    Oh, Monsoons you come.

     Parched souls bid heartfelt adieu

     to torrid heat

Standing amazed at your timeless beauty

The tears of sky in farewell may be your visit to earth.

The verdant green takes a dip in the scintillating

    Lures of rainbow hues.

Wanders in the fathomless vales of memories

Mankind also rejoices with your arrival.

The fragrance of sandal wood has immersed in the air

But you stood as though seeking someone

    Adorned with flowers of snow

Perhaps the mesmerizing beauty of spring

Stole your heart or the Autumn?

When the concerns of the day repose in a dozing sleep

You come with the stars and Moon

Oh, Monsoon you tie the knot with the Earth

In the valley of peace, you stayed long in a daze

Incognizant of the clouds awaiting your footsteps

In the centuries pass by you.

Being the prisoner of love with the earth You remain here since time immemorial.

  • THE FEATHERS OF LOVE

    Sobbing of the endless sky,

    On hazy grey avenues,

As the clouds of Aashaada(rainy month) ,

Stand gloomy without any down pour as your love.

With the chirping birds nesting in your solitude,

I too shed feathers of love sometimes,

Breaking the silence of your tranquillity.

Perchance, I am that incomplete poem,

Have been writing since many decades,

In the drizzles poured &pattered the bygone years….

Or the portraits drawn by the wet clouds of hazy sky,

On the wavy water lines, on my half-closed windows….

The rainy clouds & downpours visited again and again

in the minds of mankind since time immemorial,

For years strolled past, spanning over the seasons.

With no beginning or ending in the time scale ever,

With no disparities of time and space.

    Behold, the ethereal clouds

    Standing on my boundless sky,

    With no downpour yet.

My holy, fiery blazing clouds of sky,

    And my wondrous eyes

    Amazed at them forever!

Let me stand at this lonesome corner of sky for a while,

    Listening the rhythm of drizzle,

Merging my soul into the abyss of oblivion.

Sinking into the dreams of forest green moonlights,

    Somewhere fireflies glittered

     Knowing their lights are ephemeral

    Unlike the milky moonlight.

Yet, glowing and gleaming since time immemorial

    Enchanting the world,

    Delighting the souls.

    Fireflies of forest greens

    imparts the dismayed souls

the great lesson of living the moment

Enlightening the world till the breath bid adieu

shedding the feathers of love forever!

  • SYMPHONY OF NATURE

The sky and the earth merge

on the horizon of hope, on every twilight.

Whilst the dusky sun dipping his face

In the quietude of pacific sea

And the turbulent waves of the day

go for a repose at the seabed.

As the blue white clouds vanish

into the grey depths of starry sky,

Inviting the moonlight for a palaver.

Oh, the rare star of my sky

Why do you fall into the unfathomable gloom

of lonely nights & silent days ?

Wake up! Wake up for a brighter sunny day,

And get enthralled in the moonlight emerging from darkness

when the twilight bid adieu to the scorching heat.

The sky and earth belong to you too…

Those migratory pelagic birds, fly beyond borders to see you too,

     With the metamorphosis of seasons.

    The same winds of fragrance

Touches your feet too as mine

    on the shores of tranquillity.

The soul of the universe waiting for you…

For seeing the emergence of a better you.

  • Neeli gulmohars [ Jacaranda]

    NEELI GULMOHARS

In the valley of Neeli gulmohars,

Empyreal blue fires of the sky,

    Ethereal fragrance of Spring

Bid adieu to come again in Summer

As if the rain of my land and I come to meet you in monsoons

    Bidding farewell to come back

When the roses and gulmohars bloom again.

In the aureate radiance of gulmohars or in the throes of memories.

In the firmament of my sky

Or in the lap of nature

    Your dreams enlivened.

I don’t blame the Gulmohars and

     their lucent purplish hues,

Enticed you more than my charm.

Or the flickering mists of the newly arrived Spring.
